Job Purpose

Responsible for greeting and seating guests, maintaining the restaurant's appearance and ensures tables are clean and ready for guests. Assists servers in ensuring guests' needs are met in a clean and inviting environment

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greets customers in a genuine manner, asks if it is a customer's first visit and conducts restaurant tours. Offers customers their choice of table, presents menus, and introduces appetizers and beverages
  • Notifies the manager of all first time customers
  • Sets up tables for large parties and provides any needed highchairs, boosters, or slings
  • Maintains an accurate wait list and provides quote times to customers
  • Maintains a clean and welcoming environment including a clean floor, windows, host stand, and menus
  • Notifies manager in the event of any issues or displeased customers
  • Performs opening and closing duties such as cleaning tasks in the host stand and surrounding area
  • Assists in delivering food and beverages to customers
  • Assists in cleaning and sanitizing tables
  • Sweeps dining room periodically
  • Maintains a safe working environment and reports any safety issues to management immediately
  • Polish silverware and bowls
  • Follows all sanitation and safety policies
  • Follows company cash handling policies and procedures
  • Maintains valid state and local food handlers and alcohol certifications as applicable
  • Demonstrates team work at every opportunity
  • Advises Restaurant Manager/General Manager/Regional Director of any non-routine situations
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management

Qualifications

  • Must have excellent verbal and customer service skills
  • Must be customer centric, demonstrating a desire to be of service
  • Must be able to multi-task while maintaining required standards of operations
  • Must be able to address customer concerns in a manner that builds customer relations
  • Must be respectful of all customers, managers, team members, and vendors

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 25 lb.
  • Must be capable of constant walking, standing, stooping, and reaching in all directions
  • Must have manual dexterity
  • Must be available to work a variety of opens, swings, and closes including weekends and holidays

Verbal and Reasoning Requirements

Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests, co-workers and managers. Must be able to engage in two-way conversation with the customer on the floor. Must have the ability to read and/or follow verbal instructions and implement the same. Must be capable of applying common sense and understanding to carry out oral and/or written instructions. Must understand and adhere to service standards.
